Changing Perceptions-
Mitigating the Manufacturing Skills Crisis
As part of GPAllied‘s continuing initiative to mitigate the manufacturing skills crisis. GPAllied participates in community outreach events endeavoring to reshape perceptions about manufacturing careers and encourage young people to stay involved in science, math and engineering programs while exposing them to a taste of the high tech world of the modern manufacturing environment.
GPAllied in the Community
Vankam
GPAllied is a proud supporter of
VANAKAM VZW, an international organization that uses their fundraising efforts and manpower to build schools in India. Through all kinds of happenings, among which a concert in The Bijloke concert hall in Ghent, Belgium VANAKAM VZW has gathered enough money to buy a land and fund infrastructure needs. VANAKAM VZW is currently continuing progress on the development of this project and look forward to providing the opportunity for education to more children in India.
Book Buddies
In Charleston, as many as 60% of incoming freshmen read at or below a 4th grade level. GPAllied’s corporate office team has reached into the local area to help mitigate this sad statistic. Our corporate office is located less than 2 miles
from James Simons Elementary School, where GPAllied employees each have committed to volunteer one hour every week to be a Book Buddy for a youngster at risk. Every volunteer is paired with a buddy for one-on-one literacy instruction spanning everything from the alphabet to word pronunciation. Through this program the GPAllied team has committed to giving back to the community that surrounds our corporate office.
Guys in Ties
GPAllied team members volunteered their afternoon to participating in Fort Johnson Middle School’s Guys in Ties program. Guys in Ties introduces middle school boys to the exciting career options that lie ahead of them. For this opportunity, GPAllied team members introduced the manufacturing environment to the students as a highly technical and engaging career path while explaining the basic concepts of condition monitoring and wrapped up with an interactive condition monitoring technology demonstration.
Build the Energy Up
GPAllied was a driving force behind the Build the Energy Up event, providing speakers, volunteers, and mentors and participating on the steering
committee. The event brought together students, parents and educators for interactive presentations by local manufacturing industry leaders. GPAllied team members provided interactive presentations and participated in mentoring sessions with the students, helping them to align their current education goals and track to a future in the manufacturing field.
